Silcox Coaches is a private coach hire and tour organising business based in Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire, with a smaller satellite office in Tenby.

The business currently employs in the region of 100 people, ranging from drivers and mechanics to office staff and managers. ‘Moving with the times’ could well be the motto for Silcox Coaches.

William Luther Silcox, a saddler, established the company in 1882. It survived the closure of Pembroke Dockyard and years of recession and unemployment. Currently Keith Silcox (the 4th generation from the founder) is Managing Director for Silcox Coaches.

Through the years the Silcox business has been dealing in many different markets, including bicycles, cars, taxi services, bus services and coach travel. Since 1932 Silcox has operated bus services around Pembrokeshire. In 1960 the current official name, Silcox Motor Coach Company Ltd was adopted. Today Silcox Coaches deals solely with buses and coaches.

Silcox Coaches has continued to increase its involvement in the coach touring industry. As well as operating its own coach tour programme, it provides vehicles for a number of other companies.

One of the main suppliers of coaches for local sporting teams, school transport as well as local bus services, Silcox Coaches is very much a thriving local business, providing a large amount of work opportunities for the community.

With so much going on, Silcox Coaches is well placed to remain a driving force in Pembrokeshire for many more years to come.

“Please note that Silcox Motor Coach Company Limited (“the Company”) was placed into Administration on 6 June 2016. Kelly Burton and Joanne Wright of Wilson Field Limited, The Manor House, 260 Ecclesall Road South, Sheffield, S11 9PS have been appointed as Joint Administrators of the Company.

The Company ceased to trade prior to the Joint Administrators’ appointment on 5 June 2016 and as a consequence, it cannot honour any booking commitments it may have to customers who have paid in advance for tours with the Company over the coming months. Customers who have paid deposits for tours which will not now go ahead are urged to seek refunds of any sums they have paid to the Company. If payments have been made to the Company via credit card, you may be entitled to a refund via your credit card company who may offer insurance for goods or services which are paid for and not received or provided. Furthermore, the majority of the coach holidays sold by the Company are protected by the Bonded Coach Holidays (“BCH”) scheme which provides a bond which can be used to refund deposits and other payments made by customers to the Company in respect of tours which will not go ahead. All known creditors of the Company have been circularised with a notice of the Joint Administrators’ appointment which can be used to evidence the Company’s insolvency to your credit card providers. Furthermore, holidaymakers subject to the BCH scheme have been provided with a supplementary letter and claim form from BCH which will enable them to make a claim against the bond.
